NOW OFFERING LACTATION SUPPORT!
My Goals
Rose Leaves

Low-risk pregnancy and birth are natural, yet profound events in the lives of expectant women and their families. While pregnancy, childbirth, and the transition to life outside the womb can be unpredictable, they should always be safe, unique, and empowering experiences, regardless of any twists and turns along the way.

Mothers should take the lead in decision-making during the childbearing year. Babies deserve a respectful and gentle start, and birthing families should be actively involved in this crucial moment in everyone’s life.

My goal is to provide evidence-based, respectful, and individualized care to low-risk individuals by supporting the Midwives Model of Care.

This model recognizes that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes and includes:

- Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle.
- Offering individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, along with continuous hands-on support during labor, delivery, and postpartum.
- Minimizing unnecessary technological interventions.
- Identifying and referring women who need obstetrical attention.

Research shows that this woman-centered approach can significantly reduce the incidence of birth injuries, trauma, and cesarean sections.

Clients have the option to give birth in the comfort of their own home or to receive prenatal and postpartum care from a midwife while delivering in a hospital with a physician.

I am also passionate about serving Portuguese and Spanish-speaking birthing families, ensuring that all families feel supported and understood during this transformative time.

My Inspiration

The two women in this picture are my greatest inspirations for pursuing home births and becoming a midwife.

Sister Maria Isabel, the nurse midwife who attended my birth, was part of an unfortunate hospital experience filled with interventions and obstetrical violence.

She transformed her home into an 'underground birth center' providing a safe haven for families seeking to escape the harsh realities of traditional Brazilian hospitals.

My mother also played a crucial role in shaping my views on childbirth. When she was pregnant with my sister, she refused to submit to the pressures of hospital obstetrical violence. Despite societal and family expectations, she chose to have a home birth at a midwife's house, as captured in this photo, just moments after my sister's arrival.

Sister Maria Isabel delivered countless babies in our community, especially within our church on the east side of São Paulo. I've met many people whose lives began in her care, and everyone spoke of her with a unique tenderness and a smile.

As a little girl, I was fascinated by the idea of helping new lives enter the world. I once asked my mother to take me to meet Sister Maria Isabel so I could learn about my own birth and what it takes to be a midwife. Sadly, she had already passed away in the early '90s.

How I wish she were still here—there's so much I would love to ask and learn from her.

My Story
Rose Leaves

I was born in Brazil, where I developed a fascination for pregnancy and babies from a young age. Unfortunately, Brazil has the highest cesarean section rates in the world—56% in the public sector and 84% in the private sector. Many women, including those in my family, have also experienced obstetric violence, a troubling legacy that has affected generations.

Recognizing this harsh reality as part of my cultural upbringing, I felt a deep calling to help change it and break the cycle of violence in childbirth. I became a Doula in 2013 and soon began my studies in Midwifery. Supporting women as they empower themselves to welcome new life into the world has been one of my greatest accomplishments.

My most cherished achievement, however, is becoming the mother of three daughters, each of whom was born through empowering and transformative home births. These experiences inspired me to further my career in midwifery, as I want the honor of serving families and helping them welcome their babies in a respectful, supportive environment that only midwives can provide.

Before becoming a Midwife
Rose Leaves

I’ve always dreamed of becoming a midwife! In 2004, I attempted to enroll in Midwifery school in Brazil, but that same year, I met the love of my life. We got engaged in 2006, moved to Las Vegas in 2007, where I worked as an Au Pair specializing in newborns and multiples, and married in 2009.

Although I temporarily set my midwifery aspirations aside, I focused on building a strong foundation for our marriage and creating a life filled with adventures alongside my partner and soulmate. We’ve been happily married for over 15 years now—and counting!

After my first job caring for premature twin boys, I had the privilege of serving many families as a Newborn Care Specialist and Nanny in Las Vegas from 2007 to 2016.

When I'm not immersed in birth work, I love spending time with my family and my extended Brazilian church community. I enjoy traveling, playing the piano, trying new foods, cooking, watching movies and documentaries, and learning new skills.
