What is Bengkung Belly Binding?

Bengkung belly binding is the art of wrapping a postpartum women's belly for physical support and to help hasten the recovery process after childbirth. This belly binding method consists into wrapping a 15 yard long strip of cloth around the abdomen from the hips up to the rib cage.

Women are traditionally wrapped as soon after birth as possible, ideally on day 2-5 and only between 2-6 weeks after a cesarean birth (depending on healing of the incision). It is then for 40 days or more (traditional practice).

The Bengkung belly binding technique is rooted in Malaysian culture however various countries and cultures around the world use some form of belly binding to help support the postpartum healing process.

It's recommended to wear a belly bind on the postpartum period for 6-10 hours per day for up to 30 days.

Bengkung Belly Binding is a traditional belly-wrapping method that relieves the strain from physical changes that occur with vertical abdominal muscles and organs during pregnancy and delivery. The Wrap

The Bengkung Belly Bind consist of two separate pieces, a panel and a wrapping strip. The panel is used to protect the wrap from becoming stained with belly firming paste. It can also be used as a storage bag for the wrap.

You can choose from a variety of different colors and fabrics.

The binds are locally handmade and the edges of all binds are serged for more comfort and a more durable product.

Wrapping Sessions

-Buying the wrap from us is not required if you wish to just have a wrapping session.

-If you wish to make your own Bengkung wrap make sure it's 15 yards long X 8 inches wide made with a light and non-stretchy fabric such as muslin.

-Abdominal massage with warm organic sesame oil is included in every wrapping session. All wrapping sessions are done in your home.
